ISO 45001 Training Common Questions

Is ISO 45001 training essential?

Yes, the ISO 45001 standard requires that staff have received some sort of formal training. These requirements are stipulated in clauses 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4 as follows:

  • Staff must be aware of health and safety issues related to their work.
  • Employees must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform their tasks safely and effectively.
  • Employees should understand how their work activities contribute to the effectiveness of the organization's Occupational Health & Safety Management System, and be aware of the potential consequences of not conforming to Management System requirements.
  • Training should include contingency measures for handling potential emergency situations and ensuring staff know how to respond appropriately.
  • Records of training for each employee should be kept, along with training frequency and an assessment of the training's effectiveness.

Each of our ISO 45001 online courses covers the standard's requirements.

Are your ISO 45001 training courses difficult or intensive?

Our courses are not difficult. If you're prepared to take your time and study somewhere reasonably quiet and free of distractions, you'll be fine.

And they're not strictly speaking intensive, either, since the estimated course duration is simply an estimate. For example, ISO 45001 Foundation Training usually takes about 4 hours to complete, but there's nothing to stop you slowing down and taking twice as long.

The flexibility to study at your own pace (as well as whenever and wherever you want) is one of the most important benefits of online training.

I'm currently not sure what role I'll play in my company's implementation. Which course would you recommend?

Definitely start with ISO 45001 Foundation Training. The course is reasonably brief (4 hours) yet provides learners with a broad overview of the standard and its requirements, and teaches students the steps needed to achieve certification. The course also explains how to use the PDCA cycle as a tool for continuous improvement – a principle that's integral to ISO Management Standards.

Does your ISO 45001 training explain the benefits that organizations gain after implementing the standard?

Yes, our courses do cover the benefits of a robust Occupational Health & Safety Management System. Benefits typically include:

  • Reduced workplace incidents and the costs associated with such incidents.
  • Increased staff morale, well being, and engagement. This applies as much to employees' physical health as to their mental health.
  • Increased productivity. This benefit is self evident: a healthier, safer, and more engaged workforce will inevitably lead to improved organizational efficiency and productivity.
  • Better risk management. Strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risk are central to ISO 45001.

In a nutshell, our ISO 45001 online courses combine to cover all important aspects of the standard, one of which is the wealth of benefits that certification brings.

Do the course give me access to a personal tutor if I get stuck?

No, but you're very welcome to contact our support team here at StandardsCourses in the unlikely event of any problems or difficulties. We can generally resolve most issues within 24 hours.
